December 2014 - Swim School Manager Appointed


We are delighted to inform you that Geoff (Imp 5 and lengths teacher) has been appointed as our new Swim School Manager. Geoff will continue to teach but will now be responsible for the onsite co-ordination and will assist us in the running of the swim school each weekend. He will also take responsibility for overseeing the swim school in our absence.


May 2014 - Commonwealth Games Qualifiers Visit Sea Lion Swim School


We were delighted to welcome Amarah and Elinah Philip to the swim school on Saturday May 17th. The girls who represented the British Virgin Islands in Glasgow during July dropped into see some of our swimmers. They spent time doing demonstrations, talking to the children and then joined in an exciting team relay which the swimmers really enjoyed!

July 2014 - A Successful Crash Course to End the Term


Sea Lion Swim School held a successful crash course this summer, marking the end of another fantastic year for them. The week long crash course saw children of many ages making a great improvement from first time swimmers fully submerging to the stroke and skills development of competitive clubs swimmers from Hatfield and COStA Swimming clubs.

One parent commented “my son has come on in leaps and bounds this week – we have lessons elsewhere but wanted do some extra swimming over the summer so I am thrilled we found this course”.



November 2013 – SLSS launches swimming fitness programme and additional length classes


We are thrilled to announce that after a fantastic response from parents, we will be offering a Fitness Programme for swimmers aged 13 years and under and additional length classes from January 2014.

Our main aim at Sea Lion Swim School is to progress our swimmers into local clubs once they have completed our levels. However, we are aware that some families do not want this and after discussion with families have decided to introduce a new Fitness Programme for swimmers age 13 years and under that have completed Improver 8/9. The class will take place on a Saturday at St Albans High School for Girls from 2.00pm – 2.45pm.


May 2013 – Additional Length Classes on a Sunday from September!

Sea Lion Swim School are thrilled to announce that from September 2013, they will be introducing additional length classes on a Sunday. In January 2013 the first length classes were added to the school’s swimming timetable and demand for this service has grown and grown.

"We were in no doubt that there was high demand and enthusiasm for our length classes’ said Gill Muir, Co-Proprietor. ‘With over 60 length class swimmers this term we took the decision to expand the school further to ensure that Sea Lion Swim School offers the complete swimming education package. From Beginners to pre competitive level we encourage all of our swimmers to reach their full potential and be safe in water. The natural progression from the length class is to move onwards and upwards to Hatfield Swimming Club with whom we are affiliated."



February 2013 – New Length Classes Cause a Splash!


Sea Lion Swim School’s new length classes have exceeded all expectations. Over 60 swimmers have taken up places, including many swimmers returning after graduating from the main swim school.

Commenting on the length classes, Gill Muir, Co-Proprietor said “Feedback from parents and swimmers has been very positive. The children are learning competitive starts, finishes and turns and we are continuing to build on the stroke technique and working on endurance training to ensure our young swimmers remain safe, healthy and if they so choose, ready for a high entry into one of the local competitive clubs.”


December 2012 – New length classes are very popular

Sea Lion Swim School are delighted at the number of children that will be starting their new length classes at the start of January 2013. Gill Muir Co-proprietor said “we knew there was a demand for length classes but we have been amazed at the take up, not just from our home grown swimmers but from outside families.”

Due to huge demand Sea Lion Swim School are delighted to announce they are expanding their Learn to Swim Programme from January 2013 and offering length classes. The new 45 minute classes will include competitive starts, turns and finishes and will build on the stroke technique and endurance training to ensure our young swimmers remain safe, healthy and if they so choose, ready for a high entry into one of the local competitive clubs.

July - 2011 Co-Proprietor Gill Muir is awarded Camden Sports Coach of the year!

We are very proud to announce that Gill Muir, Co-Proprietor of Sea Lion Swim School has been awarded Camden Sports Coach of the year! Gill, who coaches at Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club was given the recognition for her dedication and passion for her coaching of the younger squads and also working with Camden Council on local initiatives for swimming. November - 2010 Sea Lion Swim School start Saturday Afternoon Classes!

Sea Lion Swim School has gone from strength to strength over the past 2 years. Now, due to an overwhelming demand they will be running lessons on a Saturday afternoon at St Albans High School for Girls. They pride themselves on their experienced team of teachers, small classes and friendly service. Gill Muir, co-proprietor, said "we are delighted to be expanding the swim school and have already received a lot of interest."

August 2010 - More Teaching Time on a Sunday Morning!

Due to an overwhelming demand Sea Lion Swim School have increased their lessons times on a Sunday morning. Lessons will now run for an additional half an hour to accommodate the high demand for all class levels. "We are very pleased with the number of enquiries we have received for lessons but need to ensure that we are still providing a good service. This has meant that we have had to increase our teaching time to make sure our classes stay small, said Gill Muir, Co-Proprietor.

July 2010 - Sea Lion Swimmers Join Local Clubs

Three of the swimmers at Sea Lion Swim School have been accepted at local swimming clubs. "We are delighted that three swimmers from our Stroke Technique class have now moved on to Harpenden Swimming Club and City of St Albans Swimming Club . We are very proud of them and wish them all the best, said Gill Muir, Co-Proprietor of Sea Lion Swim School.
